The Valley is an unique monument that requires it's own interpretative framework. However, to undertand its complexity, this section proposes to visit other difficult memory places aroud the world that, although they have their own idiosincrasy and respond to very different historical events and context that the Valley's, have developped sophisticated memory devices to confront the uncomfortable pasts they have come to represent. Altogether, from a comparative perspective, they cast a different and amplified light on our perception of what the Valley means, and provide us with clues as to how it can be activated in a democratic memory framework.
